Pratt Regional Medical Center had the opportunity to be a destination hospital for the broader community in order to deliver quality healthcare services and meet the needs of their patients. The hospital was also competing against larger hospitals in Kansas. Decker Electric assisted HFG Architecture with the design of the project to ensure the hospital needs were met from an electrical scope of services.
The biggest challenge of this addition and remodel project was working in an active hospital, coordinating power outages and cutovers. Decker worked closely work with the hospital staff to ensure all of the outages and cutovers were carefully planned to ensure no patient care was affected. This multi-phased project included compete upgrade to the electrical and specialty systems, generators, imaging equipment, and operating rooms.
The new electrical distribution system throughout the hospital included two 2000A services as well as two 750KW generators. Decker crews fed electricity to all new mechanical equipment including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, boilers and roof top units. As part of the electrical scope, Decker provided several specialty systems including nurse call, fire alarm, access control, telecommunications cabling and cable tv cabling. In addition, a complete remodel of the OR suite as well as an all new imaging suite with an MRI, CT scanner and x-ray machines were installed during this project.
All of this work was completed while keeping Pratt Regional Medical Center operational over a multi-year and multi-phased schedule.
