Decker Electric provided the industrial electrical support Fortigen needed to complete this project. The Geneva Fortigen greenfield 100 million ton per year anhydrous ammonia production facility project utilized a combination of used skid equipment that was refurbished along with new components to make a working plant. Decker Electric was contracted to complete electrical, instrumentation, instrument air, heat trace, QA/QC, engineering and commissioning services.
Bare minimum engineering was done initially on the plant which gave Decker Electric the opportunity to design and build much of the facility. Decker ran into many challenges on the project where previous design-build industrial experience allowed Decker to provide the right solutions. As the go-to partner for the owner when challenges presented themselves, Decker provided design-build solutions on the heat trace and the fire pump systems. The heat trace system consisted of over 40,000′ of heat trace being installed with four custom built enclosures.
Decker Electric manpower count consisted of over 125 craftsmen and support staff working two shifts around the clock to meet the aggressive schedule. Decker provided some limited construction management services in order to finish out several open items when the original construction manager was removed from the project.
